Postpartum is a time of major changes such as physical healing, learning to breastfeed, bonding with your baby, hormonal changes and dealing with new responsibilities. New and seasoned moms alike benefit from extra care and strong support during the Fourth Trimester. Support is provided for the woman's physical recovery from birth, offer lactation support, and of course provide plenty of education.
All families receive 3 postpartum visits:
24-48 hours after birth
At 5-7 days postpartum (If needed)
At 2 weeks
At 6 weeks
At the final checkup, you will be offered a physical exam, standard of care labs and a pap smear, if necessary.
Your baby's birth certificate information will be submitted and instructions will be provided on how to obtain the birth certificate. The Newborn Metabolic Screening and Congenital Heart Defect Screening are offered at the first postpartum visit.
We will perform weight checks at every postpartum visit, ensuring adequate weight gain and timely referrals, as necessary.
Full Circle supports a wide range of newborn feeding choices.
My support for lactation is non-discriminative and includes:
Pumping and bottle-feeding
We will provide you with the appropriate referrals to a lactation consultant, if necessary.
Placenta encapsulation is a practice of ingesting the placenta after it has been dehydrated, ground, and placed into pills. This is commonly practiced in traditional Chinese medicine. Anecdotal benefits include:
Increased milk supply
Decreased risk of postpartum depression
Increased energy levels and focus
Increased iron levels
The process goes as follows: The placenta is sliced and dehydrated at 160 F for 12-24 hours, then ground and placed into capsules. You can expect approximately 100-150 capsules from your placenta, enough to last several months if taken regularly. We will provide you with instructions about how to ingest and store your placenta. The capsules will be returned to you within 72 hours of the birth of your baby.
